Online manual says: full synthetic oil (Shell Advance Ultra 4 SAE 10W40) So I read this as needing a 10W40 fully syth oil, but doesn't have to meet any specs etc.

I have a 08 ktm450EXC that I have done a complete engine rebuild on at 183 hours, Ran without any issues for 6 or so hrs now it appears that I have gearbox oil transferring into the engine. ( was a common issue). I used a Pro X gasket kit and main bearings but used genuine KTM seals.Updated the oil pump to the 2011 spec
