There is some road vibration on badly rippled roads, but it smoothes out on better surfaces. The 4.2 is quiet, with some wind noise at high speeds. It's stable at high speeds with precise, linear steering that makes the driver feel part of the car. The S-Type is not as stiff as the BMW 5 Series.

You need to get plugged in with Jaguar IDS/SDD, generic code readers will only read engine faults and nothing else. Its usually a sensor fault or failure.
My 2008 2.7 XF has a whine when I rev the engine. This is my first Jag and diesel car so maybe its normal. Location: Posted December 19, 2015. Hi I recently had a Cambelt change for 2.7 diesel S type at Jaguar dealer in Cardiff. 3000 km later the car ground to a halt in mid France. At first thought to be a cam belt installation problem. Jaguar worldwide were contacted. 4 weeks later it has been diagnosed as a broken Oil pump.
